Known issue with duplicate Order Item IDs in M2E Pro & Magento
In this article, we inform you about the issue of duplicate Order Item IDs in M2E Pro & Magento, and the steps our team has already taken to resolve it.

As an Amazon seller, you are probably familiar with the FBA fulfillment process. Recently, there was an issue with the OrderItemsId field in the Amazon API. As a result, Order Item IDs are duplicated, causing disruptions in the fulfillment process.

In this article, we’ll break it all down so you can figure out what’s causing the issue and get back on track.

What’s the issue?

You may have recently noticed a strange phenomenon – duplicate Order Item IDs appearing in your M2E Pro and Magento orders. This anomaly only affects FBA orders created before 01/07 and updated later. All future orders should not be affected.

This is because Amazon is currently facing an issue causing a mismatch between OrderItemsId. They are actively working on resolving the issue and minimizing its impact. Here is a quick overview of the issue in-depth:

  • FBA Order is imported with a specific Order Item ID in the ‘Pending’ status;
  • This Order Item ID gets changed on Amazon and returned to M2E Pro with regular order updates;
  • M2E Pro recognizes it as a newly ordered item and adds it to the order – here the order item ID is duplicated;
  • When Amazon fulfills this order, a Magento order is created with a duplicate QTY.

How does it impact the fulfillment process?

As a result, sellers may need help with order fulfillment with the right quantity and Magento inventory inaccuracies.

The steps that the M2E Pro team took to protect you from this issue

To protect our users from this issue, we’ve made changes to the server not to import FBA orders with a ‘Pending’ status, as they will be out of date by the time Amazon fulfills them, resulting in duplicate SKUs. M2E Pro will only import orders already processed by Amazon (thus with ‘fresh’ product IDs) and create them immediately in Magento.

In addition, the M2E Pro Support Team helps mitigate damage by retrieving lists of affected orders on demand so that sellers spend less time identifying and processing affected sales.
